Today was the day of the West Wales Championships, in Neath.

It was a very warm day, but it was surprisingly blustery.

I went into the race knowing, I was around 4-5 seconds ahead of anyone else based on previous PB's. My goal was to win and get under two minutes. 

There was a bit of a delay to the start of the race, which was slightly off-putting. There were only four others in my race. I had a variety of option, discussed with my coach, as to how to approach the race. In-light of my superior PB, I immediately put myself in the front and built a gap.

I was at the front from 100 metres, so, I then tried to relax and build a lead. The runner behind me was sticking to my tail a bit, so I put my foot down to get a strong first lap - which was 58 seconds. There was a very strong headwind in the home-straight, so even with a sprint finish I couldn’t manage to quite get under two minutes this time.

But, I have my first Championship win!
