Janoš's Iffley Road Mile Race 2022

"Everything hangs-on whether I’ve done the right thing, the right coaching, the right preparation. It's alot of stress. But, Janoš is an amazing learner. He listened and executed the race exactly how we had said to. One blip… We hadn’t discussed variable starts from differing lane draws! Everything else he executed as planned. He kept to the outside of the middle of the lane, covering any inside break and being out of potential boxing-in. He stayed with the leading group. And, he kicked at 200 to go and again at 120 to go.

At 300 to go, I knew, he would win.

Next stop, the 800 metres Welsh National Championships.

As Peter Coe once said to Seb (when the doubters said he was over) ‘go stick it to them!’ And he won his second Olympic gold. I feel, similarly, that, we have made a point to various bodies, businesses and organisations in Wales and locally. He has gone out (sole representative for club and country) despite the barriers and obstacles and lack of support from the above and achieved." Vranek.
